One of the easier climbs in the Philippines – Mt. Gulugod Baboy. 

Good morning gentlemen!

There will be some instances when your friends are the hardest people to go out with meaning they’re always not available when you are available. At these instances, just let it be, but when the time comes, when the stars align, when the universe conspires with you, you take that chance. 

We had invited friends to join us in a climb. We’re not the athletic types so we chose the easiest climb nearby. Doing some research, we found Mt. Gulugod Baboy. It’s a small mountain in the area of Anilao batangas. It was an easy climb (it wasn’t, really) perfect for people like us. 

We slept late that Friday night. Nicole from work and me, just waiting for her to get home. We both got up at 3am and prepped for the day ahead. We picked our friends Kris, Cy and Kareech from Alabang, had breakfast at a fast food place and began the drove to Anilao, Batangas. It was a pleasant drive, there wasn’t much traffic since it was still early. In about 2 hours, we got to our take off point and parked in Philpan Dive Resort. Parking fee was Php 80. I went ahead and registered everyone for the climb. Registration fee is Php 50 per head, so we paid Php 250 for all. I don’t know where this money goes. I just hope it’s for a good cause. We did not hire a guide anymore since there were defined trails along the way. 

We started started our trek at about 7:30am. The first part of the trail was cemented, wide enough to for vehicles to pass. At about 1/4 of the way, the dirt road began and it was a steady ascend from there. There are multiple resting stops with adequate sitting space for everyone. I think every 100m ascend there’s one rest stop. Good thing because we had to rest every so often! We were drenched in sweat, and the weather was not helping. It was too hot and humid! But along the way, the views were starting to get very interesting. We had a great view of the ocean and
